Touching Stories

When pictures tell stories, history becomes personal - and touching. Since the beginning of the project 'Jewish Witnesses of a European Century' in 2000, Centropa has digitized more than 1250 life stories and conducted numerous interviews. In order to tell the touching story of Tosia Silberring, a progressive web application was implemented as a city tour together with Centropa Team Vienna. The tour starts at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow. Visitors are invited to install the app on their own cell phones, which means the museum does not need guides on site. The app's content, such as interviews, rare photos and written documents, is currently available in four languages and can be accessed directly by entering a number in the museum. After their stay in the museum, visitors are encouraged to visit the historical places from Tosia's stories in Krakow. A 2D map, which shows all the stops on the tour in the app, serves as a guide. In addition, the Centropa team has the ability to edit the content of the app itself using NOUS Conductor CMS and add new city tours throughout Europe.
