Interactive Border Path

As part of the new discovery trail leading to the historic Fort Kniepass in Unken, NOUS developed and implemented thirteen interactive stations dedicated to the multifaceted theme of “borders” – explored from political, linguistic, biological, and historical perspectives.
Adults navigate the path through a personality quiz, while children engage in a stamp-based riddle – both guided by the “KniePASS,” an analogue booklet with a map and punch card. The trail offers a rich variety of content including sound installations, audio plays, language collages, interactive models, and staged scenes.

NOUS was responsible for concept development, content writing, audio and music production, game design, translation, and video scripting. The content is available in German, English, the Pinzgau dialect, and over 15 additional languages.

A particular highlight is Station 3: inside a small greenhouse, visitors encounter soundscapes inspired by plant bioacoustics, translating plant responses to environmental stimuli into an artistic and immersive listening experience – offering an unusual take on natural boundaries.
