LINKKatharina Sieverding – Watching the Sun at Midnight
She is considered one of the pioneers of photographic art: Katharina Sieverding. The Museum Frieder Burda is currently celebrating the artist in Baden-Baden in a major retrospective. The exhibition, which was developed in cooperation with the Hamburg Deichtorhallen, spans from the early video works of the 1960s to the visually powerful self-portrait series of the 1970s to the 1990s to very recent productions.
Like a common thread running through her work is her willingness to repeatedly deal anew with questions of the German and global present. This political aspect ensures that her works remain relevant, even explosive, to this day. Sieverding seeks confrontation, both visually and in terms of content. At the same time, she herself says in an interview:
An extensive conversation between the artist and curator Udo Kittelmann is also at the center of our NOUS audio guide to the exhibition. In it, Katharina Sieverding describes the circumstances in which her works were created, explains what drove her, and provides insights into the technical process of creating her large-format photographs. This time, the audio guide can be downloaded easily and within a few seconds as a PWA, i.e. by scanning a QR code on one's smartphone. The inclusive design allows the font sizes and contrasts to be adapted to different visual abilities. Above all, however, the content enables access to the artist's works beyond all art historical interpretation, which is unique: Katharina Sieverding - seeing the exhibition through her eyes.
