With the opening of the new National Music Museum at the Mafra Palace on November 22, NOUS Sonic is now permanently integrated into the exhibition experience. Building on our presentation at the Sound in Museums conference, the installation brings immersive audio technology directly into the visitor journey.
NOUS Sonic allows visitors to encounter the museum’s historical instruments through spatial soundscapes. As they move through the baroque rooms, a new way of engaging with music emerges - one that supports the museum’s curatorial vision of presenting music not only as objects, but as a living, sensory experience.
Developed in close collaboration with the museum team and artist Nico Espinoza, the installation adds a contemporary, audio-driven layer to the museum, connecting history, space, and sound in a new way.
