Hundreds of visitors attended the opening of OFF SCORE at Hamburger Bahnhof – National Gallery of the Present. NOUS Sonic transforms the exhibition into an immersive soundscape, where every movement alters the acoustic environment.
The exhibition presents the largest selection of Annika Kahrs’ works to date – video and sound installations as well as performances distributed across the East Wing, the historic passages, the Forum, and public spaces. Her works explore the cultural and social functions of music – from abandoned churches and village parades to urban soundscapes.
With NOUS Sonic as the conceptual backbone, the exhibition becomes a dynamic auditory environment: sounds respond to visitors’ movements, shift throughout the space, and allow works like For Two To Play On One to be experienced in new depth. This creates an interactive experience that uniquely combines video, sound, and performance.
Key highlights in the artist’s career include the 16th Lyon Biennale (2022), LAXART Los Angeles (2021), and the Hamburger Kunsthalle (2017).
OFF SCORE can be experienced until 3 May 2026 – as a unique encounter with sound, space, and movement.
