Our museum guides

The NOUS Museum Guide is a flexible digital mediation solution for museums and cultural institutions. It can be deployed across a wide range of hardware setups - from smartphones and tablets to dedicated audio guides and interactive installations. Based on more than twenty years of experience in museum operations and continuously refined through feedback from hundreds of thousands of museum visits, the NOUS Museum Guide offers a reliable and contemporary solution for digital visitor experiences. At the core of the system is NOUS Conductor, our cloud-based content management system,

which was developed specifically for museum requirements and is continuously enhanced. Content is created once and managed centrally, and can be published in real time across all touchpoints - from PWAs and native apps to websites and interactive media stations. The headless architecture provides full design flexibility, supports sustainable system development, reduces complexity, and enables high scalability. With an availability of 99.9% and hosting on the Azure Cloud, stability, security, and automatic updates are ensured - with new features and maintenance delivered entirely via the cloud.

The NOUS Museum Progressive Web App (PWA) is the visitor-facing interface of the system. It delivers a full app-like experience directly in the browser and can be accessed instantly via QR code, without requiring an app store download. The PWA offers high performance, stability, and offline capability, making it particularly well suited for museums seeking a fast and uncomplicated solution.

A strong focus is placed on usability and accessibility. The NOUS Museum PWA supports multilingual content, adjustable font sizes, dark mode, optimized contrast, full keyboard navigation, and carefully maintained alternative texts. This enables inclusive visitor experiences that function reliably even under challenging network conditions or in hotspot-based environments.

Thanks to the system’s device independence, we work closely with our clients to select the hardware that best matches the curatorial, spatial, and content-related requirements - from classic audio guides and AR-enabled setups to synchronized AV stations or location-based applications using beacons or UWB. One principle always applies: the technology follows the content, not the other way around.

In addition, the NOUS Museum Guide can be extended with optional modules, such as a community module for user-generated content and push communication, the integration of interactive media stations, or gamified applications that support learning, exploration, and playful mediation.

Upon request, we support museums beyond the technical implementation with trained, multilingual staff on site, as well as through training sessions, project management, and visitor services. This ensures that museums can operate their digital offerings professionally - and that visitors enjoy an intuitive, high-quality, and sustainable experience with the NOUS Museum Guide.
