One of the most prominent tourist attractions in Denmark is the historical castle area in Vordingborg, in the south of Zealand. In spring 2014 a completely redesigned museum was opened, which had been planned and realized by NOUS Scandinavia. Instead of an overwhelming number of historical artefacts, the exhibition and accompanying media concentrate on one continuous storyline, which is told across various media. We also developed an all-encompassing media tablet to accompany visitors around the entire site: here, too, it is not just a case of imparting knowledge, but of surprising visitors to the site again and again with our sophisticated sound and navigation concept. With the multimedia guide, it is possible for them to see augmented reality elements of the castle, church, and the popular gate. Not forgetting the specially developed “Ghost Hunt” game for young and old. There is now nothing standing in the way of visitors digitally exploring the Middle Ages. The Vordingborg project has also shown how a well-designed and well-managed museum project can breathe life back into a region.
