WebsiteNoah Davis: Everyday life, dream and humanity
Noah Davis' figurative paintings depict the everyday lives of Black people and draw from art history, mythology, his personal archive and snapshots from flea markets and the family archive. His figures are depicted in everyday scenes such as swimming, dancing, reading or playing music - in settings that can appear both realistic and dreamlike. His paintings convey a deep sense of humanity and the universal aspects of everyday life.
Davis passed away in 2015 at the age of 32. In his short career, he built up the Underground Museum and established himself as a painter with over ten solo exhibitions.
DAS MINSK in Potsdam is now showing Noah Davis' works for the first time in Germany. Our audio guide offers exciting insights into his art and his legacy. We accompany visitors on their tour of the special exhibition and provide them with background information, interpretation aids and cross-references to art and cultural history. The audio guide in German and English is available on loan on site and as a PWA on your own smartphone.
