The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, presents some of the rarest natural history specimens in the world. As both a scientific research institution and an educational destination, the museum is designed for visitors of all ages.
NOUS has developed a comprehensive mobile visitor experience for the museum, available both on loan devices on site and as a BYOD version on iOS. The project includes concept development, content creation and production, app development, as well as the integration of AR features, AI-based personal companions based on an onboarding quiz, beacon-triggered location-specific content, and an interactive spatial view.
Visitors embark on an immersive journey through time and space - from the origins of the universe to visionary perspectives on the future of our planet. They can interact with exhibits such as the Tyrannosaurus rex “Stan” or the Murchison meteorite, while cutting-edge AR and AI technologies seamlessly connect past and future into a compelling overall experience.
The project has now been awarded Silver in the Mobile App category at the Muse Creative Awards 2026.
