As part of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (May 9 to November 22, 2026), NOUS Sonic is deployed in the Mystical Garden (Giardino Mistico) of the Holy See Pavilion. The installation enables a spatial, movement-sensitive audio experience that adapts in real time to the movement of visitors, creating individual listening experiences.
The pavilion, titled “The Ear is the Eye of the Soul”, is curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Ben Vickers, with artistic direction by Soundwalk Collective. International artists such as Patti Smith, Brian Eno, FKA Twigs, Meredith Monk, Otobong Nkanga, and Jim Jarmusch created newly commissioned sound works that engage with the writings and sonic worlds of Hildegard of Bingen, combining voice, instrumentation, and silence into multilayered compositions.

The installation invites visitors to move freely through the garden and explore the works individually via headphones. As they do so, the soundscape unfolds dynamically through the interplay of movement, environment, and perception, resulting in a personal and constantly evolving experience.
NOUS Sonic provides the technological foundation for this project. The system connects physical space and sound into a precisely orchestrated spatial composition, enabling an intuitive, screen-free experience. At the same time, the project marks the first outdoor implementation and demonstrates the potential of the technology for use in open, complex environments.
